Photographer: Emma McArdle

Today we feature an image taken at Fanad Head Lighthouse in Co. Donegal by Emma Mcardle. It was built after the sinking of HMS Saldanha occurred near the location  in 1812. Interestingly, the lighthouse is now open to the public and you can stay there overnight!

Whales and dolphins are often spotted off the coast here so it's a fantastic place for photography. The lighthouse is still fully operational (albeit automated) and helps to protect passing sailors along the coastline.

You can buy this print from €45.  Browse Emma McArdle's stunning print collection.
