Editors Choice: Photo of the Day

Photographer: De-aRt

Evidence of civilisation in Ireland can be traced back thousands of years. Today we feature The Giant's Ring in Belfast by De-aRt. Built in 2700 BC, this megalithic passage tomb dates back to the neolithic period. It is thought that The Giant's Ring was used as a ceremonial space and is enclosed by an earthwork henge 180 metres in diameter (visible in background). It was the biggest of its kind to be discovered in Ireland. There is much mystery and intrigue surrounding the usage and purpose of passage tombs.

This print is available from €20. You can browse and buy the work of De-aRt here.
