Today we feature The Giant's Causeway at sunset by Rafal Stachura. Its a very popular tourism attraction in Northern Ireland. Formed after an ancient volcanic eruption, it consists of approximately 40,000 interlocked basalt columns pushing out from the earth. Amazingly some of the columns here are up to 12 metres high, most are six-sided but some have up to eight sides. Rafal adds:
Giant’s Causeway - basalt columns created by volcanic activity at the edge of Antrim Plateau. It's also a UNESCO Heritage site.
