Today we feature a shot of a weathered shipwreck in Co. Donegal by De-Art Photography. The sky is dramatic and foreboding. They explain:
"This shipwreck of the Cara Na Mara in Bunbeg, Donegal has unearthed a few different stories from visitors to our stall at St. George’s Market in Belfast. Our favourite is the one about the fisherman who beached his boat here in the late 1970s. He planned to put it back to sea when the tide was high again but unfortunately had some domestic relationship problems in the interim. One version of the story says that his estranged wife had the engine removed from it and another says that to prevent her getting half of the boat he left it there as she could see it rotting away from her house! This shot was made in 2011 and we have heard that the old ships condition has deteriorated badly over the last few bad winters. It made such a beautiful, textured subject and we hope we have captured some of her spirit in this image."
