Today we feature an atmospheric photo taken by Joe Craig in Doolough, Co. Mayo. Low hanging clouds veil the mountain while a flock of sheep are herded by a farmer on this winding country road.
Tragically 600 people died of starvation at Doolough during the Great Famine. They had travelled 15 miles to Delphi Lodge during freezing conditions in search of food. Sadly they were turned away and most died of weakness and starvation on the return journey.
