Our featured photo today is an excellent shot of 15th century Ross Castle in Co. Kerry by Reuben Fields. It was constructed in the typical style of strongholds that were made for Irish chieftains during the Middle Ages. Taken during blue hour, cool tones of the sky contrast beautifully against the warm lights on Ross Castle. It is the ancestral home of the O'Donoghue clan and has been the site of many battles over the years including the Irish Confederate Wars (a.k.a Eleven Years War). Consequently the castle has changed hands many times but remains in excellent condition thanks to the Office of Public Works.
