Today we feature an image taken at Fanad Head Lighthouse in Co. Donegal by Emma McArdle. It was built after the sinking of HMS Saldanha occurred near the location in 1812. The lighthouse is now open to the public and you can stay there overnight.
Whales and dolphins are often spotted off the coast here so it's a great location for photography. The lighthouse is still fully operational (albeit automated) and helps to protect passing vessels along the coastline.
This print is available from €45. See Emma McArdle's Irish landscape gallery.
