Photographer: David Ahern

Meet David Ahern, an Irish landscape photographer with a unique ability to capture atmosphere in a scene. His photography mainly focuses on our diverse landscapes but he has a great skill for incorporating horse, sheep and cattle into his photos in a context that really adds life to the location!

We asked David how he got started in photography:

"I remember when I was younger, seeing photographers with tripods just standing there and thinking they were nuts. I always had an appreciation of nature and used to take a disposable camera with me up the coast when I would go surfing and gradually fell more and more into it. Having travelled around nearly every county in Ireland i can safely say that we have the most beautiful country in the world and  I aim to capture that in my photography.

Photography for me is all about feeling . I love nothing more than getting in the car and exploring Gods amazing creation of Ireland. I try not get too caught up in technical aspects or using rules, I just use my instinct as best i can."

One of my favourite shots of the trip was this one. As my girlfriend was hard at work trying to make a #wildatlanticway sign in the sand for me to shoot, I snuck around a corner and spotted this stunning horse staring back at me.
